The 2010 League will be a ten game competition with playoffs for all teams. Teams will be combined by school grades: 1st & 2nd, 3rd & 4th, 5th & 6th, and 7th & 8th grades.
Games are subject to change, so keep updated here on the new IFHYL web site.
There will be online registration on the site. Also, make your email address available to us so you can be updated via email.
If you want to go to the CYC Championship in Long Island, New York from July 29, to August 1, 2010 additional training will take place on Wednesday and Saturday evenings from 6/12/10 through 7/24/10. All boys and girls are welcome to come out and join in for a fun experience.
A special event takes place on Easter Saturday April 3, 2010* when the 2008 and 2009 Ladies Gaelic Football All-Stars from Ireland will combine with our young lady athletes to celebrate the tremendous contribution that Ladies have brought to Gaelic games. Please come out and give a warm San Francisco welcome to the fine Irish Lady Footballers from all over Ireland. Games on that day will start earlier, so look to our web site for updates at ifhyl.org
By the way, our web site is new and updated this year thanks to Michael Fenech, the parent of two IFHYL athletes. One of the highlights is that you can now register players directly on line and make your registration payment on line. The registration fee for 2010 will be the same as last year, $50.00 for under 6, $100.00 for under 8 up to under 18, with a maximum of $200.00 per family for multiple registrations.
It is appreciated if all players competing in 2010 register on line by early March. This gives the coaches an opportunity to draft players onto teams in a new format for this year. Hopefully, teams will be drafted onto smaller size teams this year by school grade to provide the athletes more touches of the ball and a fuller playing experience with the same team mates for the entire season. Teams will be playing in four eight minute quarters for ten weeks with playoffs for all teams.
Again, as we have every year the IFHYL will be entering a float and a marching unit in the San Francisco Saint Patrick’s Day Parade. All IFHYL players, marchers and float riders are asked to gather at 2nd and Howard Street on Saturday March 13, 2010 by 10:45 a.m. to partake in the parade festivities.
Best wishes to all for another successful IFHYL season.
